Thread Forming vs. Thread Tapping

Thread forming creates threads by shaping the material with a special punch tool, rather than cutting it. Unlike tapping, it requires no separate operation station — it's completed during punch cutting itself, offering speed and cost advantages for thin to medium sheet.

When to Use Which

For thin sheet (typically up to 3 mm) and standard thread sizes, form tapping is faster and more economical. For thicker material or special sizes, we recommend thread tapping.
